EU-Aserbaidschan: Nicht nur Energiepartner. Politische Reformen und friedliche Konfliktbearbeitung sollten mehr Gewicht bekommen

Abstract

Die Außenpolitik der Europäischen Union (EU) gegenüber Aserbaidschan ist sowohl werte- als auch interessenbezogen und bewegt sich insofern in einem Spannungsfeld. Das Land in der östlichen Nachbarschaft der EU tritt als strategischer Energiepartner hervor. Europäische Interessen im Südkaukasus werden maßgeblich von dem Anliegen definiert, die eigene Energieversorgung zu diversifizieren. Im Verhältnis zu dem größten Land in dieser Region sollte die EU aber nicht den Eindruck erwecken, dass sich ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf dieses Kooperationsfeld beschränkt und Themen wie friedliche Konfliktlösung und politische Reformen dahinter zurückstehen
