Abstract

Wir erwarten vom Politiker, dass er uns ernst nimmt und, natürlich, ehrlich ist. Irgendwie mögen wir allzu viel Ehrlichkeit aber auch nicht, vor allem, wenn sie schmerzlich scheint. Der Wahlkampf der Bundeskanzlerin 2009, über dessen präsidialen Charakter so gern geklagt wird, ist eine logische Umsetzung nicht nur der Erfahrungen der Kanzlerkandidatin 2005: Mit Ausnahme vielleicht des Bundestagswahlkampfs 1983 bekamen immer diejenigen die meisten Stimmen, die den angenehmsten Weg in die Zukunft beschrieben und möglichst vage blieben.
