Krankenhausschließungen führen zu etwas weniger Behandlungen

Abstract

Wenn Kliniken schließen, sinkt die Rate der Krankenhausaufenthalte in der betroffenen Region. - Der Personalmangel in Kliniken und die alternde Bevölkerung belasten das Gesundheitswesen. Die Zusammenlegung von Kliniken ist in vielen Fällen eine wichtige Maßnahme, um die Behandlungsqualität und die Effizienz im Gesundheitswesen zu erhöhen und eine personelle Mindestbesetzung zu gewährleisten. Eine RWI-Studie zeigt, dass die Schließung kleiner Kliniken die Fahrzeiten zum nächsten Krankenhaus im Durchschnitt nur geringfügig erhöht und die Krankenhausaufenthalte in der betroffenen Bevölkerung nur leicht reduziert. Dennoch müssen Schließungen sorgfältig geplant werden und mit einer guten ambulanten Versorgung einhergehen.
