Die Geburtenlücke: Wie das Studium die Familienplanung beeinflusst

Abstract

Frauen mit Hochschulabschluss bekommen im Schnitt weniger Kinder als Nicht-Akademikerinnen. - Eine aktuelle RWI-Studie legt nahe: Akademikerinnen bringen weniger Nachwuchs zur Welt, weil Kind und Karriere offenbar schwer vereinbar sind - und eher nicht, weil sie grundsätzlich andere Präferenzen haben. Entscheiden sich Frauen mit höherer Bildung dennoch für Nachwuchs, haben sie durchschnittlich sogar mehr Kinder als Mütter ohne Hochschulabschluss. Der Gesetzgeber sollte die Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie stärken. Das Rückkehrrecht von Teilzeit in Vollzeit reicht dafür nicht aus.
