Die Benutzeroberfläche Pinguin für das sozio-ökonomische Panel

Abstract

Die in INGRES implementierte Datenbank des Sozio-ökonomischen Panels (DIW, Berlin) hat einen beständig wachsenden Benutzerkreis gefunden. Um den Umgang mit der Panel-Datenbank auch gelegentlichen Anwendern zu ermöglichen, wurde die benutzerfreundliche Oberfläche PINGUIN (= Panel Information Guide based on INGRES) erstellt, die nicht nur als Online-Nachschlagewerk von Variablen und Tabellen dient, sondern darüberhinaus Zugriff auf den gesamten Datenbestand bietet. PINGUIN ist auf der Zentralrechneranlage des Rechenzentrums der Universität Konstanz implementiert und somit allen bisherigen Benutzern der Panel-Datenbank zugänglich.
