Quo vadis, Europa? Auf dem Weg zu einer politischen Union? Erneute Diskussion über die Finalität der EU

Abstract

In Anbetracht der krisenhaften Zustände in der Europäischen Währungsunion wird seit einiger Zeit die Frage nach der Weiterentwicklung oder der Finalität der Europäischen Union (EU) erneut gestellt. Sowohl auf der Ebene der EU als auch auf nationaler Ebene wurden und werden Vorschläge unterbreitet, die mehr Integration in der EU fordern und bis zu einer Politischen Union reichen. Wenn 'mehr Europa' vielfach für den Ausweg aus der Krise gehalten wird, liegt es nahe, sich mit der Frage nach der Finalität der EU zu befassen; wobei schon jetzt eingeräumt werden muss, dass es auf viele Fragen keine abschließenden Antworten gibt.
