Fachkräftemangel in KMU: Eine Analyse der Fachkräftesituation nach Betriebsgrößenklassen

Abstract

Mit 64,3 Prozent arbeiten knapp zwei Drittel aller qualifizierten sozialversicherungspflichtig Beschäftigten in Deutschland in kleinen oder mittleren Unternehmen (KMU). Diese umfassen 99,3 Prozent aller Unternehmen und sind somit prägend für den Standort Deutschland. Eine neue Auswertung der Daten der Bundesagentur für Arbeit erlaubt erstmals die Analyse der Fachkräftelücke nach Betriebsgröße. Die Daten zeigen, dass zwischen Juli 2024 und Juni 2025 72,3 Prozent aller offenen Stellen von KMU ausgeschrieben wurden und ihnen insgesamt 281.532 Fachkräfte fehlten. Kleinunternehmen mit maximal 49 Mitarbeiter:innen verzeichneten mit 177.347 fehlenden Fachkräften den größten absoluten Engpass. In Großunternehmen lag die Fachkräftelücke zuletzt bei 111.240 fehlenden Fachkräften. Damit entfielen gut sieben von zehn (71,7 Prozent) aller nicht besetzbaren offene Stellen auf KMU.
