Deflation und Konsumstau: Mikroökonomische Evidenz

Abstract

Der Deflation wird nachgesagt, die gesamtwirtschaftliche Nachfrage zu dämpfen, weil die Konsumenten ihre Käufe in Erwartung weiter fallender Preise zurückstellen würden. Wir überprüfen die Stichhaltigkeit dieser Argumentation auf der Ebene einzelner Güter. Unsere Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die verbreitete Furcht vor negativen Auswirkungen einer Deflation auf den gesamtwirtschaftlichen Konsum auf einem schwachen mikroökonomischen Fundament steht.
