Die Hamburger Tourismusbranche in der Corona-Krise

Abstract

Drastisch gesunkene Übernachtungszahlen und das Ausbleiben der Tagesgäste stellen die Hamburger Tourismusbranche vor große Herausforderungen. Im Jahr 2020 brach allein der Umsatz im Beherbergungsgewerbe um über 60 Prozent ein. Die Autorin weist darauf hin, dass Kulturveranstaltungen, Messen und geschäftliche Reisen zentrale Säulen des Hamburger Tourismus sind, die besonders unter den Einschränkungen der Pandemiebekämpfung leiden. Lockerungen der Beherbergungsbeschränkung könnten ihre volle Wirkung erst dann entfalten, wenn diese Anziehungspunkte wieder zugänglich sind. Nach ihrer Einschätzung hängt die Entwicklung des Hamburger Tourismus im Jahr 2021 entscheidend vom Pandemieverlauf und den damit einhergehenden Einschränkungen ab. Je früher sinkende Inzidenzzahlen und Öffnungskonzepte das Vertrauen in sichere Städtetrips und Veranstaltungen wiederherstellen, desto früher kann eine Erholung einsetzen.
