Zur Entwicklung der Inflation in den Vereinigten Staaten

Abstract

Die Inflation in den Vereinigten Staaten hat deutlich an Fahrt aufgenommen. Im Mai lagen die Verbraucherpreise um 5 Prozent höher als noch vor einem Jahr. Die Entwicklung der einzelnen Komponenten des Verbraucherindex seit Beginn der Pandemie ist allerdings sehr unterschiedlich (Abbildung 1). Die Verbraucherpreise sanken zunächst auf breiter, besonders deutlich war der Rückgang der Energiepreise. Eine Ausnahme stellen Preise für in den eigenen vier Wänden ("food at home") dar, die sich angesichts geschlossener Restaurants im März und April des vergangenen Jahres verteuerten. haben sich die Preise in dieser Kategorie wieder etwas zurückgebildet, liegen jedoch noch deutlich über dem Trend, der vor der Pandemie zu beobachten war. sanken die Preise für den Verzehr von Nahrungsmitteln außer Haus ("food away from home") im Zuge der Pandemie kaum und liegen aktuell etwas über ihrem Vorkrisentrend. Anders verhält es sich bei den Preisen für Dienstleistungen und Verbrauchsgüter
