Jugendarbeitslosigkeit im Euroraum

Abstract

In der Debatte um eine angemessene Euro-Krisenpolitik wird gelegentlich die hohe Arbeitslosenquote unter Jugendlichen in den Krisenstaaten beklagt. Die betroffenen jungen Menschen müssen Einkommensausfälle hinnehmen und verpassen Erfahrungen, die entscheidend für ihr weiteres Berufsleben sein können. Negative Auswirkungen auf die weitere Entwicklung der Arbeitsproduktivität und Verdienstmöglichkeiten sind zu befürchten. Somit könnte sich durch eine frühe, ausgedehnte Phase der Arbeitslosigkeit pfadabhängig eine dauerhafte Schmälerung der beruflichen Perspektiven und Lebenschancen ergeben. Die Jugendarbeitslosigkeit, üblicherweise bezogen auf die Altersgruppe unter 25 Jahren, lag in Spanien, Griechenland und Süditalien zeitweilig über 50 Prozent.
