Hundertjährige im Ruhrgebiet: Perspektiven für zukünftige Forschung

Abstract

Das Ruhrgebiet ist ein bislang unterschätzter Forschungsraum für Fragen der Langlebigkeit. Die Lebensverläufe von Hundertjährigen ermöglichen neue Erkenntnisse über gesundes Altern sowie biologische, soziale und räumliche Einflussfaktoren. Internationale Studien zeigen, dass Langlebigkeit nicht allein genetisch bedingt ist, sondern wesentlich durch Lebensstil, soziale Beziehungen und das Lebensumfeld geprägt wird. Eine regional ausgerichtete Hundertjährigenforschung kann wichtige Impulse für altersfreundliche Quartiere, Gesundheitsversorgung und kommunale Planung liefern.
