Älter werden in Nordrhein-Westfalen: Demografischer Wandel als kommunale Zukunftsaufgabe

Abstract

Der demografische Wandel führt NRW-weit zu einem starken Anstieg des Altenquotienten und damit zu einem steigenden Bedarf altersspezifischer Wohnformen und Dienstleistungen. Das bestehende Angebot barrierefreier Wohnungen deckt bei Weitem nicht den Bedarf. Gleichzeitig verhindern langjährige günstige Wohnverhältnisse SeniorInnen einen Umzug in eine meist teurere barrierefreie Wohnung. Die Abnahme gesundheitsbezogener Dienste infolge von Bevölkerungsrückgängen führt zu einer drohenden Unterversorgung. Es erfordert ein vorausschauendes integriertes Handeln der relevanten kommunalen Ämter in Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren Akteuren.
