"Citythons" als Instrument der Quartiersentwicklung: Das Urban Solutions Lab

Abstract

Ein Citython ist ein spezifischer Hackathon, bei dem Teilnehmende in kurzer Zeit innovative Lösungen für städtische Herausforderungen entwickeln und in kurzen Pitches vorstellen. Im Sommer 2025 veranstaltete das IAT mit dem Urban Solutions Lab einen solchen Citython für urbane Herausforderungen aus Gelsenkirchen. Studierende mehrerer Ruhrgebietsuniversitäten nahmen im Rahmen von Lehrveranstaltungen. Das Format bewährte sich besonders in der Lehre: Die Teilnehmenden berichteten über deutliche Kompetenzgewinne u. a. in Teamarbeit, Präsentation, digitalen Fähigkeiten und Methoden. Alle vier Teams arbeiteten mit außergewöhnlich hoher Motivation. Darüber hinaus eignet sich das Urban Solutions Lab, um junge Menschen als Innovationsagentinnen und -agenten für die Stadtund Regionalentwicklung zu gewinnen.
