Bibliotheken in der Shareconomy: Open Access als Geschäftsmodell

Abstract

Das Modethema "Shareconomy", das 2013 zum Motto der CeBIT erklärt worden ist, stellt seit langem das Grundprinzip jeder Wissenschaft dar und wird von Bibliotheken in Reinkultur praktiziert: Bücher und Zeitschriften werden einmal beschafft und von vielen genutzt. Das Aufkommen elektronischer Zeitschriften hat den Zugang nur für diejenigen erleichtert, die die Zeitschriften abonniert haben, nicht aber für die Allgemeinheit. Erst das Prinzip des freien Zugangs eröffnet neue Nutzungsmöglichkeiten für Zeitschriften wie auch Nachschlagewerke und andere Informationsmittel. Auch Zeitschriften nach dem Open-Access-Prinzip verursachen Kosten, die über verschiedene Geschäftsmodelle abgedeckt werden müssen; hier sind weitere kreative Vorschläge für Finanzierungsmodelle gefragt. Die Diskussion um Open Access sollte versachlicht werden und sowohl ökonomische Aspekte als auch Fragen der Qualitätssicherung einbeziehen.
