Abstract

Im Herbst 2021 wurde das Gesetz zur ganztägigen Förderung von Kindern im Grundschulalter (Ganztagsförderungsgesetz - GaFöG ) verabschiedet. Damit haben Grundschulkinder, die im Jahr 2026 oder später in die erste Klasse kommen, bundesweit einen Rechtsanspruch auf eine Förderung im Umfang von acht Stunden pro Werktag (einschließlich des Unterrichts) in einer Kindertageseinrichtung (Kita) oder einer Grundschule mit gebundenem oder offenem Ganztagsangebot (§ 24 Abs. IV SGB VIII in der ab 2026 geltenden Fassung ). Verbunden wurde die Verabschiedung des Rechtsanspruchs mit einer Erhöhung des Länderanteils an der Umsatzsteuer zur Förderung der Betriebskosten und mit Investitionsmitteln für die Infrastruktur.
