Wie viele ausländische Euro-Münzen fließen nach Deutschland?

Abstract

Das vorliegende Papier beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie viele ausländische Euro-Münzen pro Tag in ein Euro-Land einströmen. Dafür formulieren wir ein kleines formalmathematisches Modell, das wir für den Fall Deutschlands und 1-Euro-Münzen kalibrieren. Die Einführung der Euro-Münzen 2002 bot eine einmalige Chance, die grenzüberschreitende Münzmigration und die Durchmischung der einzelnen Länder mit ausländischen EuroMünzen zu erfassen. Basierend auf Untersuchungen von Stoyan ermitteln wir, dass pro Tag in etwa 150.000 1-Euro-Münzen nach Deutschland fließen. Im Jahr 2018 werden sich voraussichtlich 50 % ausländische 1-€-Münzen in Deutschland befinden. Diese indirekt berechneten Zahlen scheinen ökonomisch plausibel zu sein.
