Abstract

In Österreich zeichnen sich im Ausbildungsbereich Entwicklungen ab, die in einer Wirtschaft, deren zentrale Ressource die Kompetenz der Erwerbsbevölkerung ist, potenziell hemmend wirken und angesichts des Fachkräftemangels als kontraproduktiv einzustufen sind. Die steigenden Abbruchsquoten in der österreichischen Lehrlingsausbildung, wie auch die Drop-Outs aus MINT-Ausbildungen waren Gegenstand des vierten Berufsbildungs-Jour Fixe am 14. April 2026, "Lehrlingsausbildung in Österreich: Competences at risk!?". Die von ibw, IHS, L&R und WIFO vorgelegten Befunde zu Ausbildungsabbrüchen im dualen System sowie zu Geschlechterdisparitäten im MINT-Bereich machen deutlich, dass gezielte Ansätze zur Kompetenzentwicklung junger Menschen und bewährte Strategien des Wissenstransfers von zentraler Bedeutung sind.
