COVID-19-Pandemie: Höchste Beschäftigungseinbußen in Österreich seit fast 70 Jahren

Abstract

Die Maßnahmen der Bundesregierung zur Bewältigung der COVID-19-Pandemie haben dramatische Folgen für den Arbeitsmarkt. Die Arbeitslosigkeit stieg innerhalb von zwei Wochen um knapp 200.000 auf ein Rekordniveau von 563.000 Personen Ende März, und parallel dazu sank im März – erstmals seit Februar 2010 – im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat die unselbständige Beschäftigung um 186.974 Beschäftigungsverhältnisse auf 3,589.401 (–5,0%). Betroffen vom Beschäftigungsrückgang sind – mit erheblichen Unterschieden – alle Bundesländer und die meisten Wirtschaftsbereiche, insbesondere die Dienstleistungen, aber auch Teilbereiche der Sachgütererzeugung bis hin zum Bauwesen, Männer stärker als Frauen, jüngere Altersgruppen und ausländische Arbeitskräfte stärker als inländische Arbeitskräfte.
