Abstract

Depuis 1989 et la création du World Wide Web, le rapport des individus à leurs données personnelles a été profondément bouleversé. En se transformant en « monnaie d’échange » contre des services, ces données sont devenues le moteur de l’économie numérique mondiale, au point de consacrer une poignée d’entreprises technologiques au rang d’empires de la surveillance estimés à plusieurs milliards de dollars, les fameux GAFAM (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon et Microsoft). C’est cette reconfiguration du capitalisme à l’ère numérique que retrace Shoshana Zuboff.
