La-N-VA et les élections d’octobre 2018 :des aspirations contrariées

Abstract

Le 14 octobre 2018, la Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie (N-VA) ambitionnait de s’affirmer comme le nouveau parti populaire de Flandre aux élections communales et d’affirmer son statut de parti dominant au scrutin provincial. A l’examen des résultats électoraux et politiques des deux élections, il apparaît que la N-VA a échoué à atteindre ses deux buts. Au contraire, elle a encouru une défaite électorale et a assisté à un certain retour en grâce du Vlaams Belang, le parti flamand d’extrême droite. Son recul électoral est généralisé mais est plus marqué dans ses zones d’implantation moyenne. Ce faisant, le parti affiche un caractère – encore – plus anversois et se donne à voir comme un parti mineur ou de format intermédiaire en Flandre occidentale, dans le Limbourg et, dans une moindre mesure, en Flandre orientale.
