Abstract

This technical note aims to assist in the use of some special commands available in Stata. The commands gen and egen allow for the creation of new variables based on those already present in the dataset, while the commands by and bys facilitate the generation of information for groups of observations. Some examples use data available within Stata and data from the PNAD Contínua.
