Derrames de IED y calidad de las exportaciones de las empresas uruguayas

Abstract

La presente investigación evalúa si la presencia de empresas extranjeras ha tenido algún impacto en la calidad de exportaciones de las empresas locales de Uruguay (derrames de exportaciones desde la IED). Utilizando datos de exportaciones de firma, productos y destino de exportación, fusionados con datos de actividad económica a nivel de firma para el período 2007-2017 de Uruguay, no se encuentra una relación positiva entre los derrames de IED y la calidad de las exportaciones, tanto al utilizar como proxy los valores unitarios o el enfoque de Khandelwal et al. (2013). Mientras que al utilizar el valor unitario como proxy de calidad se encuentra una relación negativa entre esta y los Derrame Horizontales y del Upstream, al utilizar la calidad estimada según el enfoque de Khandelwal et al. (2013) no se encuentra relación significativa. Sin embargo se destacan impactos positivos de los Derrames Horizontales de la IED en la calidad de las exportaciones de las empresas locales para el período 2013-2017 y del Downstream en el período completo (2007-2017) al considerar tanto las empresas locales como extranjeras exportadoras, utilizando en ambos casos el enfoque de Khandelwal et al. (2013).
