Abstract

The purpose of this working paper is to analyse Spanish public opinion towards foreign aid. To do this, the author has considered some factors that shape public attitudes towards development aid, basically: public opinion’s interest towards international issues; public perceptions about the international situation and the different regions and countries; the role of development cooperation policy in the international context, and finally, Spanish public support to foreign aid. Results are crossed with some socio-demographical variables – gender, level of studies, age and ideological self-positioning, among others. Data are part of the results of poll (Study nº 2445) carried out by the Spanish Centre of Sociological Research (CIS) on February 2002, titled International Policy III.
