    El presente documento constituye una revisión crítica de los principales trabajos metodológicos en el ámbito de la evaluación de la equidad horizontal en la prestación de servicios sanitarios, desde comienzos de la década de los 70 hasta nuestros días. Asimismo, ofrece un resumen de resultados de las investigaciones que hasta el momento se han realizado teniendo como ámbito de referencia el caso español.
