El enfoque microeconómico: marginalismo y neoclásicos

Abstract

El presente capítulo trata del advenimiento del método y enfoque microeconómicos a la ciencia económica. Por lo general, dicha innovación se ha conocido con el nombre de marginalismo o neoclasicismo, en un intento de separar a aquellos autores que introdujeron el nuevo método y, consciente o inconscientemente, lo diferenciaron del tipo de análisis que provenía de sus antecesores -los clásicos- (tal fue el caso de Jevons, o de algunos autores precursores como Cournot, Dupuit o Gossen), de aquellos otros autores, como Marshall (explícitamente) o Walras (en el sentido de intentar no desviarse de la corriente principal de pensamiento teórico), que admitieron la influencia de la economía clásica en sus obras o al menos no negaron su importancia.
