El Proyecto del Enlace Fijo Europa-África y sus impactos en el área euromediterránea

Abstract

El Proyecto bilateral del Enlace Fijo trasciende así como un proyecto de integración entre Europa y África y, particularmente, para la región euro-mediterránea, con los siguientes efectos positivos. El solo lanzamiento del proyecto conllevaría un posicionamiento para el conjunto de la UE respecto al vecino continente africano y, a la larga, posibilitaría la conexión intermodal de las redes de transporte europeas y norafricanas a través de un enlace fijo en el Estrecho. Consolidará la cooperación y las relaciones de vecindad entre Marruecos y España; Consolidará el papel del Estrecho de Gibraltar como corredor neurálgico en los intercambios entre Europa y África; Constituirá el eslabón esencial de un nuevo sistema de transporte euro- mediterráneo para responder a la demanda de tráfico y favorecer un espacio económico integrado; Contribuirá al acercamiento de las dos orillas del Mediterráneo y, por tanto, al proceso de convergencia Norte-Sur y a la sinergia de los potenciales para un desarrollo económico y social duradero en la región.
