Abstract

In Europa stoßen die Iran-Sanktionen der USA von 2018 auf Widerstand. Es wird nach Lösungen gesucht, den Iranhandel unter Umgehung amerikanischer Sanktionen aufrechtzu-erhalten. Der vorliegende Beitrag beleuchtet aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Sicht die Rolle des USD als Leitwährung, die Stärken und Schwächen des internationalen Korrespondenzban-kensystems und die Rolle des Finanzplatzes New York im internationalen Zahlungsverkehr. Es werden Vorschläge für ein modernisiertes Zahlungsverkehrssystem gemacht, das in Europa verankert ist. Das System verringert zum einen den Einfluss der US-Regierung auf den internationalen Handel. Zum anderen würde ein starker Finanzplatz in Europa in Konkurrenz zu New York entstehen.
