Investissement et croissance de la productivite a long terme dans le secteur des entreprises au Canada, 1961 a 2002

Abstract

Le present document s'appuie sur les bases de donnees servant a la construction des comptes de productivite de Statistique Canada afin d'examiner les sources de croissance dans l'economie canadienne et l'evolution de la croissance de la productivite au Canada au cours de la periode de 1961 a 2002. Nous utilisons une nouvelle serie chronologique fondee sur le Systeme de classification des industries de l'Amerique du Nord. L'analyse est structuree selon le cadre comptable de la croissance. Ce cadre fournit des estimations de l'importance relative du facteur travail, des investissements en immobilisations et de la croissance de la productivite. Les donnees requises pour repondre a cette question permettent egalement d'examiner les changements observes dans la composition des facteurs capital et travail. En outre, nous exposons les facteurs sous jacents qui determinent la productivite du travail (productivite multifactorielle, approfondissement du capital et relevement du niveau de competence). Comme la base de donnees est construite au niveau de l'industrie, toutes ces relations peuvent etre examinees au niveau tant de l'economie dans son ensemble que des differentes industries.
