L'écart de production entre le Canada et les États-Unis : le rôle de la productivité, 1994-2002

Abstract

La différence d'écart de production (PIB par habitant) entre le Canada et les États-Unis est séparée en deux composantes : les différences en termes de productivité (PIB par heure travaillée) et les différences d'effort (heures travaillées par habitant) pour la période de 1994 à 2002. Cet article montre qu'en moyenne, la majorité de l'écart de production provient des différences dans les heures travaillées plutôt que de différences en termes de productivité. Depuis 1994, l'écart de production a diminué légèrement, principalement en raison d'un accroissement des heures travaillées au Canada par rapport aux États-Unis.
