Représentation de l’adversaire et politique économique : nationalisation, politique industrielle et acte unique européen

Abstract

Les figures de l'ennemi de classe, de l'adversaire avec lequel on cohabite et enfin de l'adversaire devenu partenaire ont joué un rôle marquant dans la définition puis la conduite des politiques économiques du socialisme au pouvoir en France. Les nationalisations, l'affirmation du rôle de l'Etat dans la société d'économie mixte puis le marché unique européen et le traité de Maastricht en fournissent l'illustration. Pourtant c'est la libérali-sation économique et la modernisation du capitalisme français qui au total seront portées à l'actif de la gauche. Ce paradoxe est levé dès lors que l'on intègre la dimension républicaine des nationalisations, le caractère colbertiste de l'intervention industrielle, et la volonté de puissance de l'Etat national. Ainsi, une stratégie de rupture peut en fait révéler des continuités plus anciennes.
