Italie : une lueur au bout du tunnel ?

Abstract

Après neuf trimestres consécutifs de baisse du PIB, le dernier trimestre de 2013 apporte une lueur d’espoir à l’Italie. Le pays, qui a réussi à ramener son déficit budgétaire à 3 % du PIB en 2012, s’était en effet astreint à une purge budgétaire au prix d’une forte récession. La crise et l’austérité ont laissé des stigmates préoccupantes, parmi lesquelles la destruction de capacités de production, la montée de l’endettement public et privé, et la fragilisation des banques avec la montée des créances douteuses. À cela s’ajoute l’instabilité politique qui s’est intensifiée, et qui a conduit au départ précipité d’Enrico Letta et à l’investiture de Matteo Renzi (du Parti démocrate) le 24 février 2014.
