Abstract

Après un premier semestre plutôt encourageant et un acquis de croissance de 0,5 %, l’Italie est entrée en récession fin 2011, avec deux trimestres consécutifs de baisse du PIB. La baisse a été particulièrement marquée au dernier trimestre, avec une chute du PIB de 0,7 %, l’une des plus mauvaises performances de la zone. Le recul du PIB au troisième trimestre était resté contenu, la contribution positive du commerce extérieur ayant permis de limiter l’effet négatif du fort déstockage (contribution de -0,7 point à la croissance) et de la baisse de la demande interne (contribution négative de -0,5 point). Au dernier trimestre, en revanche, la baisse considérable des importations (-2,5 %) n’a pas permis de compenser la baisse de la consommation privée et publique, et surtout n’a pas réussi à enrayer la chute de la FBCF. Cette situation s’explique surtout par le fort resserrement budgétaire et la remontée du coût de financement pour les entreprises et les particuliers. (Premier paragraphe)
