Abstract

Notre analyse de l’emploi marchand pour la France, l’Allemagne, l’Italie, l’Espagne, le Royaume-Uni et les États-Unis repose sur celle du cycle de productivité. De fait, les évolutions de l’emploi dépendent principalement de celle de l’activité économique, de l’évolution du coût du travail et de sa durée. À court terme toutefois, l’emploi peut augmenter plus (ou moins) vite relativement à l’activité économique selon que l’économie se situe en haut (en bas) du cycle de productivité, ce qui nécessite d’établir un diagnostic sur la productivité tendancielle et la position dans le cycle.
