The law of copyright is part of wider legislation, known as intellectual property. Intellectual property rights protect the interests of creators by giving them property rights over their creations. The legal regulation of copyright is not only an aspect of the national law of each State, but is also subject to the codification of international agreements between the States that have signed these agreements.
