Abstract

This preprint proposes an innovative method of statistical processing of lists of basic vocabulary for the following circumpolar languages: Proto-Yenisei, Proto-na-Dene, Haida, Proto-Eskimo + Proto-Aleutian, Proto-Chukchi-Kamchatka, Proto-Nivkh, Proto-Samoyed , Proto-Yukaghir. Thanks to a weighted permutation test, a strong signal (3 sigma) was revealed in the Samoyed + Yukaghir pair, which, apparently, is a trace of ancient contacts
