Abstract

The basis of the data used is the detailed data of the customs statistics of Russia. An empirical model for assessing the level of barriers to export at the customs border of the Russian Federation can be obtained on the basis of the simplest theoretical model of route selection by an international freight carrier. The study showed that time costs affect the flow of trade not only through an increase in transport costs, but also directly, reducing the value of the transaction for the seller and / or buyer. The magnitude of these effects is comparable, but for consumer goods, a relatively greater contribution of the direct component can be noted. In turn, this indicates that, generally speaking, the contribution of the time component to trade costs between the two countries depends, inter alia, on the structure of trade.
