Abstract

This study covers theoretical and empirical works on capital mobility, characterizing the relationship between savings and investments. We carried out our own econometric calculations of the relationship between saving and investment rates for a sample of OECD countries, developing countries, and countries with a high dependence on hydrocarbon exports. The results of empirical analysis indicate an increase in capital mobility over time, but after the global financial crisis, capital mobility has decreased again. Developing countries and countries with a high dependence on hydrocarbons demonstrate greater capital mobility.
