Abstract

Beethoven was one of the most important music personalit ies of all times. Born in a poor family, in Bonn, the musician became one of the best pianists of his era, but won his place in the music history because of the masterpieces he had composed in his last 20 years of life, when he lost his hearing and managed to step out from Mozart’s style. This work suggests a psychoanalytic approach of Beethoven’s life as it appears in Symphony No.5, written in a period of frustration: the musician started to go deaf and lived an enormous drama because of his new music life and twilight social life, thinking seriously to commit suicide. By the time he has completed all four parts of this symphony; Beethoven was completely deaf but managed to direct the first audition.
