Abstract

Service-oriented manufacturing is considered a “new industrial form of integration of manufacturing and service, and a new advanced manufacturing mode. It aims to realize the value-added of all stakeholders in the manufacturing value chain. It implements the integration of decentralized manufacturing resources and the extra coordination of their core competitiveness through the integration of products and services, the full participation of customers, and the mutual provision of productive services and service production by enterprises, to achieve a manufacturing mode of high efficiency and innovation” (Sun, 2007). This paper focuses on the development and prospect of China’s service-oriented manufacturing. Part 2 describes the evolution of it in China. Part 3 focuses on its development and present status. Part 4 analyzes barriers and problems. Part 5 consists of policy suggestions.
