Efectos económicos del cambio climático en el Perú

Abstract

En el presente documento se evalúan los efectos económicos del cambio climático en el Perú utilizando información regional sobre producción y el clima; tomando para ello las series de cuentas nacionales disponibles desde 1970 hasta 2019 y las series de temperaturas máximas y mínimas, y precipitaciones que publica el Senamhi, la cual cuenta con información desde la década de los 60 para la mayoría de las regiones. Se observa que, pese a la variabilidad en los resultados de los diversos modelos, el efecto del calentamiento sobre el crecimiento económico es negativo. Se concluye que, de mantenerse la tendencia de los desvíos actuales en las temperaturas, en comparación a la registrada en los últimos 30 años (o un aumento adicional de 0.5ºC en la temperatura máxima o 0.3ºC en la mínima), el ingreso por habitante se reduciría, en su estimación central, en alrededor de 9 por ciento hacia el año 2050 (al interior de un rango de entre 3 y 21 por ciento) y en 22 por ciento al 2100 (para un rango de entre 8 y 46 por ciento). La amplitud en el rango de estimaciones es propia de la incertidumbre que predomina en este tipo de modelos de predicción con base a los efectos del clima.
