Osa-aikatyö palvelualoilla

Abstract

Osa-aikatyön tekemisen syinä palvelualoilla korostuvat kokoaikatyön puute ja opiskelu. Työ sijoittuu enemmän ilta- ja viikonloppuaikoihin kuin kokoaikaisilla työntekijöillä. Lyhyintä osa-aikatyötä tehdään kiinteistöpalvelualoilla ja pisintä vähittäiskaupassa. Osa-aikaisista työntekijöistä 25–52 % haluaisi tehdä pidempää työaikaa. Lukuun ottamatta kiinteistöpalvelualoja noin puolet osa-aikaisista haluaisi tehdä samaa työtä kokoaikaisena. Osa-aikatyö toimii jossakin määrin ponnahduslautana kokoaikaiseen työhön. Kuitenkin osa-aikaiset työntekijät arvioivat kehitys- ja etenemismahdollisuutensa heikommiksi kuin kokoaikaiset työntekijät. Pitkät aukioloajat, työvoiman tarpeen vaihtelu, kannattavuus, toimeksiantajan tarpeet ja toiminnan luonne ovat tärkeimpiä syitä osa-aikatyön teettämiseen. Työnantajat arvioivat osa-aikaisten työntekijöiden vaihtuvuuden kokoaikaisia suuremmaksi. Vaihtuvuutta pidettiin myös jossakin määrin ongelmallisena erityisesti kiinteistöpalvelualoilla.
