Suomen julkisen sektorin tila ja tulevaisuuden näkymät

Abstract

1990-luvun alun laman ja sen jälkeisen voimakkaan talouskasvun jälkeen Suomen julkinen talous on verrattain hyvässä kunnossa. Hyvinvointivaltion perusturva- ja palvelujärjestelmät on kyetty säilyttämään hyvin. Useilla indikaattoreilla mitattuna olemme maailman huipputasolla. Kansainvälisissä kilpailukykyvertailuissa maamme on sijoittunut aivan kärkeen. Peruskoulu tuottaa maailman lukutaitoisimpia nuoria. Terveydenhoitojärjestelmä tuottaa hyviä tuloksia keskimääräistä pienemmällä panoksella. Suomi edustaa myös parhaimmistoa tulonjaon tasaisuuden ja köyhyyden vähäisyyden mittareilla. Valtion ja julkisyhteisöjen bruttovelat ovat supistuneet noin 60 miljardiin euroon, hieman yli 40 %:iin suhteessa bruttokansantuotteeseen, mikä on toiseksi vähiten EU-maiden joukossa.
