    Abstract

    Lamasta toivuttuaan Suomi on kansantaloutena menestynyt jopa häkellyttävän hyvin. Nousihan Suomi 1990-luvun loppupuolella maailman kilpailukykyisimpien maiden joukkoon. Mutta miten Suomen taloudellinen menestyminen on näkynyt suomalaisten taloudellisessa asemassa? Kansantalous menestyi – mutta menestyikö kansa? Kirjan keskeisiä aineksia ovat työllisyys, työttömyys, palkat ja tulonjako. Onko työttömyys alentunut hitaasti? Ketkä työllistyvät – ketkä eivät? Missä mielessä Suomen työttömyys on rakenteellista? Oliko 1990-luku palkkamaltin vuosikymmen? Miksi palkansaajien saama siivu kansantulokakusta on pienentynyt? Miksi tuloerot ovat kasvaneet? Muun muassa näihin kysymyksiin antavat Palkansaajien tutkimuslaitoksen tutkijat kirjassa vastauksensa. Kirjan perusviesti on “Kansantalous menestyi – mutta ei koko kansa”. Kirja on tarkoitettu mahdollisimman yleistajuiseksi esitykseksi, johon tutustumalla Suomen ja suomalaisten taloudesta kiinnostunut henkilö saa tuoretta tietoa ja pohtimisen aihetta. Kirjan tavoitteena on paitsi antaa tietoa myös herättää keskustelua.
