Mikä on tutkintotodistuksesi tuotto? Koulutusasteiden, -sektorien ja -alojen väliset tuloerot 2015–2023

Abstract

Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan eri koulutusasteilta, -sektoreilta ja -aloilta valmistuneiden 35–40-vuotiaiden suomalaisten välisten tuloerojen kehitystä vuosina 2015–2023. Tulokset perustuvat regressioanalyyseihin, joissa kontrolloidaan laajaa taustamuuttujien joukkoa, mukaan lukien henkilöiden perhetaustaa ja peruskoulumenestystä. Tulosten mukaan koulutustason nosto näyttäytyy edelleen keskimäärin erittäin tuottavana investointina yksilöiden näkökulmasta, ja eri koulutusasteilta valmistuneiden välisten tuloerojen havaitaan jopa kasvaneen merkittävästi vuoden 2017 jälkeen. Koulutusasteiden tulopreemiot ja niiden muutokset vaihtelevat kuitenkin runsaasti koulutusalan mukaan. Havainnot korostavat koulutusalan valinnan tärkeyttä yksilöiden tuloja määrittävänä tekijänä sekä koulutuksen tuottoihin liittyvän tutkimustiedon ajantasaisuuden merkitystä.
