Yritysten tuottavuus ja työvoiman korkeakouluosaaminen

Abstract

Analyysissämme tarkastelemme ylimmän korkeakoulututkinnon suorittaneiden työntekijöiden osuuden muutoksen yhteyttä yrityksen tuottavuuden kasvuun Suomessa vuosina 2008–2022. Erityishuomio on STEM-aloilla (tiede, teknologia, insinööritieteet ja matematiikka) ja kaupalliselta alalta valmistuneissa. Varsinkin nuoret korkean teknologian yritykset ovat palkanneet STEM-koulutettuja sekä kaupallisen alan korkeakoulutettuja paljon 2010-luvun aikana. Tulokset osoittavat, että STEM-koulutettujen osuuden kasvu on vahvassa yhteydessä yrityksen tuottavuuden kasvun kanssa, mutta yhteys ilmenee selkeästi vasta parin kolmen vuoden viiveellä. Sitä vastoin kaupallisen ylemmän asteen korkeakoulutuksen saaneiden osuuden kasvu näkyy nopeasti vahvasti tuottavuudessa. Tulokset viittaavat siihen, että korkeakoulutetun työvoiman lisääminen on keskeistä yritysten tuottavuuskasvun edellytyksille.
