Abstract

The paper does analyse the approach used in the rural development operational program of the Latium Region to fulfil the strategic requirements of the rural policies at the national and Euorpean level. The main aspects of the approach were the reinforcing of the managing authority and local actors’ capacity development, the definition from the begining of a governance rather than govenrnment approach, the use of a participative process in the call for proposal design and the clear tracking of the selection criteria in the project building and evaluation.
