Misiones Jesuíticas en el Sur de Brasil: 400 años de Legado Económico

Abstract

La historia económica de los pueblos requiere un análisis y una evaluación consistentes de los fenómenos y hechos de la evolución humana. Las Misiones Jesuíticas constituyeron una experiencia única de su tiempo. Este estudio busca identificar los elementos económicos introducidos por los jesuitas en el sur de Brasil entre 1626 y 1756 y evaluar, con base en datos económicos actuales, las posibles conexiones que persisten casi 400 años después. Los resultados indican la presencia de una fuerte identidad y legado económico, donde al menos el 50% de los productos de ese período aún se producen en cada municipio, y el 22% de la producción actual se basa en productos originados en el siglo XVII. El análisis de la diversidad productiva sugiere que un aumento del 1% en la población genera seis nuevos productos. El método empleado es cuali-cuantitativo, de naturaleza histórico-interpretativa, e incluye el análisis estadístico de 66.499 observaciones de productos actuales.
