Abstract

Decision-making appears in any context of our daily lives, but when dealing with financial or investment issues, there are greater degrees of complexity to determine what is best for personal finances. On paper everything seems simple, but when it comes time to implement these financial decisions complications arise and even more so if you do not have the technical tools and methodology to address the problem. The aim of this work is to contribute theoretical and conceptual elements so that this decision-making is carried out in a more accurate way. What motivates me to write about the issue of the stock market was because between 2010 and 2011 I had to make decisions about investment and participated sporadically in the Mexican stock market. Where I must admit that it did not go very well and I could have made better decisions regarding the investments made in the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (Mexican Stock Exchange). Instead of applying the well-known phrase, 'Let the profits run and cut the losses', it seems that I applied counter-meaning to what this sentence marks and I went on to lose a good part of the savings of a lifetime of efforts and jobs. This confirms that you do not always earn by participating in the capital market. I will simply analyze three actions in particular, the cases of two housing sector titles in Mexico: Geo B and Sare B and the third title of the telecommunications sector: Axtel CPO. The first two were no current listing on the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (Mexican Stock Exchange), while Axtel in my particular case accounted for more than fifty percent loss. With some arrogance he thought that with the "knowledge" acquired in the bachelor's, masters and doctorate in economic sciences, it was enough to grow a small capital, which corresponded to savings and sacrifices.
