Digital Literacy in Pakistan: The Current State and Key Challenges

Abstract

Executive Summary: Digital literacy plays a crucial role in the economic competitiveness and employment of Pakistani youth. but inequalities result from regional, gendered, and income related disparities that hinder their development of digital literacy. Although Pakistan connectivity continues to grow, low level of digital skills and lack of integration into educational systems remain obstacles to obtaining employment. The unfavorable positioning of Pakistan in global digital ranking highlights a critical disparity between technological access and the necessary capabilities. To reduce this skill gap through a measurable policy process that is linked to employment is necessary to reduce youth unemployment rates, improve human capital, and facilitate sustainable economic growth.
